A breast cancer survivor is fighting a different kind of battle, after her post-operation photos were branded “pornographic” by Facebook and removed from the site.

Mum-of-two Joanne Jackson, 40, from Thornhill, Dewsbury, posted the snaps on the social networking site after having a mastectomy.

But Facebook removed some of the images, which revealed her operation scar. Joanne has now been warned that further “abusive” breaches will result in her account being shut down.

Joanne, a Slimming World consultant, said: “There is nothing pornographic or explicit about these pictures. These pictures weren’t as much about me as about other women who had maybe just been diagnosed with breast cancer. The images aren’t fluffy, they are real and I am very proud of them.”

Joanne only discovered she had breast cancer after losing five stones in weight, dropping from a size 22 to a size 10. Her Facebook friends have now taken up the fight and the images have been re-posted as far afield as Australia, the USA, Canada and Spain.
