Nominate your best Leeds building
From the historic designs of Cuthbert Brodrick to the modern skyscrapers in the city centre, Leeds is full of iconic buildings.
And while the Leeds Architecture Awards judges might already have chosen their winners, today we're asking YOU to name your favourite.
* To nominate your favourite building to win our competition, email: suzanne.mctaggart@ypn.co.uk – with your building in the subject title –and explain in no more than 100 words why that is your favourite.
Please make sure to include your name, address and daytime telephone number.
The Yorkshire Evening Post is launching a new search for the city's number one building – and we want you, our readers, to have your say.
Whether it's a public venue, a church, an office block or even your own house, we want to hear your nominations for Leeds's best building.
Simply let us know your number one and we will compile a shortlist before holding a vote – both in the paper and online at www.yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk – so you can choose your winner.
YEP editor Paul Napier said: "The Leeds skyline is changing all the time and the YEP is very supportive of new building projects, particularly those which change the shape of the city and provide a welcome boost to the economy.
"Some of the city's historic buildings are beautiful but many of the new schemes are also very popular. We thought it was time to celebrate the success of architecture in Leeds and I'm looking forward to seeing which building is voted the winner."
As reported in the YEP, Castleford Bridge designer Renato Benedetti and Leeds City Council's civic architect John Thorp were part of the judging panel for the Leeds Architecture Awards 2009.
The panel toured the city and judged the categories including: Temporary Works; New Building, Altered Building, Conserved Building and Public Realm and Landscape Design.
The awards are jointly promoted by Leeds City Council and the Leeds Chamber Property Forum, in association with the Leeds Society of Architects, the Landscape Institute, the Institute of Historic Building
Conservation and Leeds Civic Trust.
The winners will be revealed at a glittering ceremony in January – when the winner of our title will also be announced.
Entries can be sent by post to Suzanne McTaggart, Yorkshire Evening Post, PO Box 168, Wellington Street, Leeds, LS1 1RF.
The closing date for entries is Saturday, November 14.
