A DRUNK man who fractured another man’s skull in an attack outside a Leeds pub has escaped a jail sentence.

Wayne Woods punched Christopher Milner in the face, causing him to fall backwards and hit his head on the pavement outside the Hedley Verity pub on Woodhouse Lane.

Leeds Crown Court heard Mr Milner suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on the brain. He spent three days in hospital after the attack in the early hours of Sunday December 1 last year.

Police found a small amount of cocaine on Woods when he was arrested.

Woods, 27, of Roberts Avenue, Harehills, Leeds, admitted grievous bodily harm and possessing cocaine.

Handing Woods an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for eight months, Recorder Tony Kelbrick told him: “I’m satisfied that this was a single incident of loss of control while you were drunk.”

Woods must also complete 120 hours unpaid work in the community.
