New security measures help residents sleep more easily

RESIDENTS of two sheltered housing complexes in Pudsey can sleep more safely thanks to help from their local Labour Councillors.

Residents of New Street Grove were the victims of anti-social behaviour and contacted councillors Josie Jarosz, Richard Lewis and Mick Coulson for help who raised the matter with the local housing office.

Metal fencing has now been erected around the site, giving the people of New Street Grove better security.

Meanwhile, residents of Claremont Grove can also rest easy, thanks to new fencing at their complex.

They recently funded their own CCTV system, and consequently the councillors were eager to do all they could to ensure the complex was as secure as possible. Funding has now been secured for new perimeter fencing, as well as for a new communal kitchen area in the complex.

Coun Josie Jarosz (Pudsey) said: "I am really pleased that my ward colleagues and I have managed to help these people to feel more secure in their own homes."

She added: "Everyone has a right to feel safe at home and the residents of New Street Grove had been denied this right for too long.

"Hopefully this new fence will give them the security they deserve."
