Further speed restrictions look set to be implemented in a Leeds market town.
A series of 20mph zones is set to be introduced in Otley this year.
The first stage of the plan will cover the Cambridge estate, North Parade and North Avenue as well as streets off Bradford Road.
But local councillors are hoping that the scheme will be extended to include residential areas north of the river.
Councillor Colin Campbell (Lib Dem, Otley and Yeadon) said: “Most roads have an issue with a small number of inconsiderate drivers who exceed the speed limit. This is why we have worked so hard to bring forward 20mph speed limits in Otley.
“The first phase of that should be in place this year, and then the second phase, which will hopefully cover residential streets north of the river, including the Weston estate.”
The first phase of the project is being funded by £18,500 which includes a £10,000 grant from Otley Town Council, £5,000 from developers under a planning agreement and the rest from ward-based initiatives secured by Coun Campbell.
