"Over four weeks, we will be celebrating God's gift of life and its challenges through sculpture, tapestry, horticulture and a barbecue, leading up to the dedication of the new grounds."

The grounds and garden will be dedicated on Sunday, May 25, by Rev Dr Stephen Orchard, the Moderator of the General Assembly of the United Reformed Church.

In the run up to the dedication the church is staging an exhibition of sculptures by Jean Parker called Good Grief/Bald Statements, reflecting how God helps in personal loss and grief.

At the same time the church is also holding an exhibition of tapestries by Pamela Pavitt called Worlds Apart. Jean Parker will talk about her sculptures at 7pm on Wednesday, May 7 and again the next morning at 10am.

Pamela Pavitt will talk about tapestries at 2pm on Saturday, May 17. All are welcome to these talks. The sculptures and tapestries have been loaned by Westhill Endowment Trust."

"We hope the whole community will enjoy the new landscaping. We thank God for it and invite everyone to come and join the celebrations," added Rev Pickering.

Landscaping convenor, Alex Jowitt said: "Leeds Metropolitan University graduate year students in Architecture Landscape and Design developed the plans with St Andrew's. The work has been generously funded by Leeds City Council North East (Inner) Area WellBeing Fund, Green Leeds Ltd, and the Westhill Endowment Trust, plus private donations. We are very grateful to them all. Generations will enjoy the fruits of their ingenuity and kindness."
