A West Yorkshire pub has announced a new head chef after the departure of Masterchef runner up Tom Rennolds.

The 26-year-old former plasterer, from Silsden, who reached the final of the popular BBC cooking competition in March, was put in charge of the kitchens at the Craven Heifer in Addingham in August.

But Tom, who has previously said he wants to open his own restaurant, chucked in his apron last month.

His replacement Paul Jowett, 22, has worked at a number of high profile venues including the Michelin-star holding The Box Tree in Ilkley, and The Angel Inn at Hetton.

The Craven Heifer, on Main Street, was previously a Chinese restaurant and reopened its doors at the end of August following a £250,000 refurb by owners Punch Taverns.

Landlord Craig Minto, 31, who also runs The Fleece in Addingham, said: “We are looking to create a dining experience with a difference at the Craven Heifer and pitching for a market between the gastropub style on offer at The Fleece and the Box Tree in Ilkley.”
