DINERS are in for a tasty treat tomorrow as a new barbecue restaurant opens its doors in north Leeds.

The hugely popular Leeds-based Red’s True Barbecue brand launches its new branch at Otley Road in Headingley tomorrow (July 17) with a free food giveaway.

Customers can bag themselves free barbecue food from 6.30pm, until it runs out.

The award-winning restaurant chain has taken over the former Macy’s Grill building and has undergone a £460,000 refit, taking inspiration from the site’s previous life as a bank.

James Douglas, co-founder of Red’s, said: “We’re excited to see what people think we’ve done with the interior design, taking it back to its roots as a bank, but with a definite Red’s twist.

“We’re confident Red’s will really add to the bustling culture of Headingley and help grow its perception as a great day and night out for all.”

Speaking about the launch, he added: “There’s no denying we wouldn’t be here now opening our new amazing Headingley site if it wasn’t for the incredible support Leeds has shown us since we opened in 2012.

“This is a chance for us in some way to say thank you, fill your boots.

“We’re also hosting a load of live music, plus a few surprises.”

The new Red’s True Barbecue restaurant has created 36 jobs for the local area.

Mr Douglas added: “It’s important we continue to invest in the city’s pool of excellent talent.”

Red’s True Barbecue in Headingley will open its doors on Thursday, July 17, from 6.30pm.

The roof will also be turned into an open air stage, showcasing a host of live bands including JJ Rosa, blues band Junkhouse Dog, bluegrass buskers The Kentucky Cow Tippers and Rat On The Roof.

Award-winning Red’s True Barbecue, which also has a restaurant on Call Lane in Leeds and another in Manchester, sells 40 tonnes of meat to over 35,000 customers each month.
