A muddy challenge has seen thousands tackle an obstacle course with a difference in the name of fun and fitness.

The Major Series race, organised by outdoor exercise class provider British Military Fitness, saw runners take on a 5km or 10km course at Bramham Park, near Leeds, yesterday.

Designed by former and serving members of the British armed forces, the run involved a series of bogs, river crossings and an ice crawl.

The 40-obstacle course also saw runners take on a spider’s web and giant slide.

British Military Fitness delivers more than 400 fitness classes every week in more than 120 parks and outdoor spaces across the UK.

The organisation employs over 600 instructors, who are all members or former members of the armed forces and hold military or civilian fitness qualifications.
