There were tailbacks on the M62 today following a suspected suicide on the M62 near Rochdale.
Greater Manchester Police were called at 7.20am on today following reports a man had jumped from a bridge on to the M62 eastbound near to junction 20.
Officers attended and discovered the body of a man. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
There are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the man’s death at this stage.
A police spokeswoman said: “The motorway has been closed eastbound between junctions 20 and 21 and motorists are advised to avoid the area where possible. The man has not yet been identified and we do not have an age for him at this stage.”
