Missing fiancee tragedy at Castleford nature reserve

THE body of a woman found at a Yorkshire wetlands nature reserve has been identified as missing 48-year-old Jane Bacon.

A police underwater search team recovered the body from the Fairburn Ings Nature Reserve in Castleford on Thursday.

Mrs Bacon was reported missing from her home in Cutsyke on January 7 after failing to turn up for work at St James's Hospital in Leeds.

The nurse, who was engaged to be married, was last seen near Methley Bridge. She had caught a bus to work, but returned to the area.

Police divers combed the River Aire shortly after her disappearance, as reported in the YEP in January.

There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We would like to thank members of the public and the media for their assistance. Our deepest sympathies go out to Mrs Bacon's family."
