This pub landlord is getting his regulars hot under the collar with his latest bar snack – the world’s HOTTEST pickled onion!
Tim Wood has created the fierce flavour by soaking the onions in vinegar for six weeks with some of the world’s hottest chillis, including the Trinidad Scorpion, Naga Viper and Assam Naga Jolokia.
Some of his customers at the Old Colonial Pub in Mirfield are facing the challenge head-on.
Tim, who owns the pub, said: “I just love pickled onions, I always have.
“One time when I was pickling some onions, I thought they were a little hotter than usual and so I decided to throw some extra chillies in the mix,” he said.
The onions are being sold to raise money for a rehabilitation centre for injured soldiers at Catterick.
