Meet the cook pudding Yorkshire on the map

Chris Blackburn.

Chris Blackburn.

Cooking enthusiast and food blogger Christopher Blackburn is pudding Yorkshire back on the culinary map with his very own recipe for the Tyke treat.

He will showcase his own award-winning Yorkshire Pudding recipe on ITV’s new food programme Food Glorious Food.

The programme, which has been shot in Harrogate, starts on Wednesday, February 27 at 8pm.

Christopher’s special recipe includes a never-before-seen twist on the British classic, and provides him with the opportunity to go head-to-head with other chefs.

“I love the idea of putting Yorkshire and Yorkshire Pudding on the national stage,” said Christopher.

“It was exciting to prepare my favourite dish for famous celebrities, but it’s the exposure of the dish itself and of the region I am from for which I am most pleased about.”

Learning and development manager Christopher won a pro-am Yorkshire Pudding competition run by the Dean Clough Cookery School in Halifax for two years in a row.

Shortly after his first win, he started a food blog, www.YorkshirePudd.co.uk, which has been nominated for the 2013 MAD Best Food Blog Award. He also has aspirations of launching a line of cookery products.

Food Glorious Food is a production of Simon Cowell’s Syco Entertainment, and will be hosted by Carol Vorderman.

The show claims to be the largest and most inclusive food programme to air on British television.

A team of expert judges will scour the country for Britain’s best loved recipe.

The winning dish will be stocked on the shelves of Marks & Spencer and earn the winner a ÂŁ20,000 cash prize.
