Poet Mark Grist visited The Morley Academy where he was speaking to year 10 students and running some workshops.

Poet and ‘rogue teacher’ Mark Grist visited a Leeds school to share his work and inspire youngsters to write.

The former English teacher – who found fame when he defeated a teenage grime artist in a rap battle at the Edinburgh Fringe – was at Morley Academy to present some of his work and hold writing workshops with year 10 pupils.

Becky Tyndall, marketing officer at Morley Academy, said: “It was really good and went down really well with the pupils.

“Mark was engaging, confident and entertaining, with poems about schools, teachers and first love.

“The kids were really impressed.”

As well as touring with his acclaimed double act the Dead Poets, Mark is an educational consultant, and delivers teacher training as well as running workshops at schools.
