Man, 23, dies after collapsing in Pontefract nightclub
A POLICE investigation was launched after a young man collapsed and died in a Pontefract nightclub at the weekend.
The man who died was a 23-year-old believed to be local who collapsed at the nightclub in the town centre.
Detectives stressed his death was not being treated as suspicious, said a spokesman for the West Yorkshire Police homicide and major inqiry team.
His name was not released by police last night.
The death followed an earlier incident in which a man was arrested in connection with an alleged assault on Saturday evening. The incident at 10pm involved an alleged assault in the Corn Market in Pontefract when a man was arrested and subsequently interviewed.
Part of the town centre was sealed off by police at the time.
Police have refused to confirm or deny whether the man who died was the subject of the earlier alleged assault.
