Man remanded by Leeds magistrates charged with murdering ex-partner

A man has been remanded in custody after appearing in court charged with the murder of his ex-partner.

Pauline Butler, 61, was found dead at Cherry Lea Court in Rawdon on Monday afternoon.

She had suffered multiple knife wounds to her neck.

John Butler, 62,of Larkfield Road, Rawdon, appeared before Leeds Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday morning charged with murder.

He spoke only to confirm his name and was remanded in custody to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Thursday.

Police found the body of Ms Butler after an ambulance was called to the home at about 12.30pm on Monday.

Detectives said investigations suggested Ms Butler had died in a suspected “domestic-related incident”.
