Lucy Watmough: Leeds soprano takes Hard Rock Café by storm

A budding Leeds soprano, who hopes to follow in the footsteps of Katherine Jenkins and Hayley Westenra, took Manchester's Hard Rock Café by storm.

Lucy Watmough, 17, who attends Prince Henry's Grammar School, in Otley, was invited to perform at the event designed to showcase young talent.

She performed a selection of classical songs in the middle of a hard rock, hip hop, rap and RnB orientated musical evening.

Lucy has been classically trained since the age of nine and performs songs in various languages including Italian, German and Mandarin Chinese.

She managed to shock the audience with her set.

Afterwards Lucy, who was the only classical singer invited to the event, said she had been a bit worried about how people would react. It was a great night but I had to leave before the end so that I could catch the last train home as I had school the next day."
