LEEDS mum Leanne Taylor is riding high thanks to the modern-day musical phenomenon that is chart-topper Adele.
Leanne, 32, from Swillington, unveiled her Adele tribute act with a showcase concert at Cross Gates Working Men’s Club last September.
And since then she says demand for her singing services has exploded.
“It’s been amazing,” Leanne told the Yorkshire Evening Post. “I’ve played in London, Portsmouth, Northern Ireland – all over, really.
“It’s just a shame that Adele’s had throat problems and so hasn’t been able to record any new material. Hopefully she’ll be better soon and singing again.”
Alan Becks, 50, is another Leeds resident carving out a noteworthy career as a tribute performer.
The dad-of-two, from Tingley, has been treating audiences to his Dean Martin act for more than a decade.
Rave reviews for Alan’s take on the charismatic Rat Pack crooner have led to him appearing at parties for famous names such as Max Clifford and Shane Richie.
He said: “I love singing and I’ve always thought there would be something out there for me as a performer – it just took me a while to work out what it was.
“People started saying I looked like a young Dean Martin and it all came together from there, although the voice did take a bit of working on!”
Paul Ratcliffe, meanwhile, has been told he’s a dead ringer for actor Robert Lindsay.
Paul, a 40-year-old photographer from Headingley, isn’t too sure – so decided to let YEP readers weigh it up for themselves. “I’ve had a few people serving me in shops asking if I knew I looked like him,” he said. “It’s happened in the supermarket queue and at WH Smiths. No autograph requests, though – yet!”
