A team of legal eagles will leave the courtroom to tackle a charity fundraiser backed by the YEP.
The group of solicitors from Morley-based Stapleton Gardner will take on the Starlight Hike – a night-time walk in aid of Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice.
Solicitor Adrian Altman said: “It appealed to us because it was interesting and different.
“With a lot of these charity events you could be leaping out of planes – and while that might be exciting, it excludes a lot of people. The Starlight Hike is something that people of all levels of fitness and age can do.”
The walk on September 27 sets off at 10pm and follows a marshalled route covering 10k of landscaped gardens and parkland at the historic Temple Newsam estate.
The event is open to men, women and children and aims to raise £40,000 for the hospice, which provides care for people with incurable illnesses such as cancer and heart disease.
The Stapleton Gardner firm has also chosen the hospice as its charity partner for the year
Mr Altman added: “We were impressed by the way all the money raised for Wheatfields goes to Wheatfields. With so many charities you feel your donation is a tiny drop in a big pot, but at Wheatfields you can see exactly where the money is going to be used.”
The firm plans to send a team of 11 employees along with family and friends to the Starlight Hike.
Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice fundraiser, Georgina Abbott, said: “We couldn’t keep the doors of the hospice open were it not for events like this. It’s thanks to the thousands of people who take part that much-needed money is raised to help Wheatfields carry out its vital work.”
