MOVIE MAGIC: Tales of The Night.

Kids will definitely be all right for movie fun in Leeds during the Easter school holidays.

This year’s Leeds Young People’s Film Festival will take place from March 26 to April 5, it has been announced.

And as it is being held for the 13th time, the theme of the event’s programme is what it’s like to become a teenager.

Screening highlights include:

* Tales Of The Night, a fantasy animation from celebrated director Michel Ocelot;

* On The Sly, an acclaimed film about a six-year-old girl’s adventures in the woods;

* The Crocodiles: All For One, which tells the story of a daring jailbreak;

* Capelito The Magic Mushroom, a family-friendly animated treat.

Hyde Park Picture House is the main base for the festival, although other venues will feature too – most notably Leeds Town Hall.

Festival director Debbie Maturi said: “We are so excited by the sheer range and quality of the programme and can’t wait to welcome audiences to our 13th edition.

“There’s a wealth of activity for all the family and it’s fantastic value too.”

This year’s programme will also feature a competition for young film-makers in four age groups – up to 10, 11 to 14, 15 to 19 and 20 to 25.

Its overall winner will scoop £250 to put towards the cost of their next movie project.

The festival is being presented by Leeds City Council and award-winning film enthusiast group MediaFish.

Its sister bash, the Leeds International Film Festival, is due to run this year from November 1 to 18.
