Leeds Rhinos star Jamie Peacock has told of his pride after receiving the MBE from the Queen at Buckingham Palace today.

The 34-year-old headed to London to pick up the award, given in recognition of his services to rugby league.

Leeds-born Peacock’s visit to the capital came just five days after he helped Rhinos to their World Club Challenge victory over Australian side Manly Sea Eagles.

The veteran front-rower and England captain said: “Coming down here is the greatest honour so far in my career.

“This is great exposure for myself but it’s humbling to realise there are people from outside the sport looking in and thinking I’m doing good things within the sport.

“I’m also pleased for the sport itself, it gets some recognition through the fact I’ve received the MBE.”
