Leeds Party in the Park: Beverley Knight to perform

It is less than a week since the ticket launch for Party in the Park - but already, all the free tickets have completely GONE.

And the YEP can announce three more acts to add to the all-star line-up in Leeds on Sunday, July 26.

Swedish chart sensation Agnes, hip-hop maestro DJ Ironik and old favourite Beverley Knight will all perform at the event at Temple Newsam Park.

Agnes - real name Agnes Carlsson - scored a number three hit in the UK singles chart last month with Release Me, which has taken the clubs by storm, while DJ Ironik had a number three hit with a cover of Elton John's classic Tiny Dancer (Hold Me Closer).

Beverley Knight last performed at Party in the Park in 2007 and has a massive back catalogue of hits, including Shoulda Woulda Coulda, Greatest Day and Come As You Are.

The event, organised by Leeds City Council and 96.3 Radio Aire, follows Opera in the Park on Saturday, July 25.

Leeds City Council's executive member for leisure, Coun John Procter, said: "For all the tickets to be gone in just four days is amazing.

"The line-up already announced for Party in the Park is really impressive and it is shaping up to be one of the best ever.

"Everyone who has got tickets is guaranteed a fantastic day out and they are the lucky ones as they have got their hands on the hottest tickets in town."

More than 70,000 people are expected to attend the summer bash at Temple Newsam Park on the Sunday, where headline acts include Alesha Dixon, Little Boots, N-Dubz, JLS, The Noisettes and current number one Pixie Lott.

Opera in the Park will return to a more classical theme this year, featuring performances by award-winning soloists Alfie Boe and Natasha Marsh together with the universally renowned Hall Symphony Orchestra and the Leeds Festival Chorus, led by conductor David Parry.

A few tickets for the event are still available, from the city centre box office at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds Town Hall reception, Leeds Central Library, Leeds Visitor Centre (at Leeds City Train Station), Magic 828/96.3 Radio Aire reception (on Burley Road) and the Yorkshire Post Newspapers reception on Wellington Street. Tickets are also available from many local libraries.

There is also just a few days left until the closing date of our amazing Party Idols competition, giving an up-and-coming band the opportunity to open the show at Party in the Park.

Acts are asked to sing a cover of either Mercy by Duffy, Valerie by The Zutons, Human by The Killers or Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol, and send their videos or mp3s to: party.idols@ypn.co.uk

We will accept entries filmed on a mobile phone.

The closing date for entries is noon on Monday. Entries can also be sent by post to Suzanne McTaggart, Yorkshire Evening Post, PO Box 168, Wellington Street, Leeds, LS1 1RF.

• Keep reading the YEP and listen to 96.3 Radio Aire for your chance to grab the last few remaining tickets for Party in the Park.

If you have tickets which you do not want, please return them to 96.3 Radio Aire's reception at 51 Burley Road, Leeds, LS3 1LR.
