Leeds man dresses as Superman to propose to First Direct girlfriend

IT was a surprise marriage proposal that could have been pants.

But Andy Duncan made sure HE was the hero when he went down on one knee dressed as SUPERMAN.

The 40-year-old popped the question to shocked girlfriend Lyndsay Linton at the Leeds call centre where she works.

He 'flew' into Lyndsay's office to the heroe's theme tune to secure the love of his very own Lois Lane.

Mr Duncan, an engineer, said: "She is the most wonderful girl in the world and I love her to bits.

"She calls me her Superman because I look after her and make sure she doesn't do anything wrong."

Andy arrived at Lyndsay's work, First Direct in Stourton, yesterday, and waited for the signal before making his grand entrance.

Crowds gathered around Lyndsay's desk as Andy introduced himself as Superman.

After being handed a bag of kryptonite and falling to his knees, he said: "The only thing that can save me now is if you will be my wife."

After a few tears and a quiet 'yes' Lindsay, 38, said: "I'm gobsmacked, for once in my life."

But feeling less than impressed with the temporary ring he gave her, Lyndsay blurted to her new fiance: "I think I need a better one than that, sweetheart."

Andy though had already planned to take his fiancee on a special trip to London where he has booked an appointment at the Harrods jewellery department.

Only a handful of people at First Direct knew about the surprise.

Lyndsay's boss Vicky said: "I have known about it for three weeks – she had no idea.

"She was actually complaining about having to come to work in a dress."

The couple met three years ago in a bar in Sheffield.

Andy said: "We got chatting and it went from there. We bought a new house together last year so we are in it for the long term now."
