As cuts continue to bite across Leeds, a project is calling on more members of the community to stand up and be counted.

Leeds Involving People represents disabled, elderly and socially disadvantaged communities to make sure they have their say on how services are run in the city.

LIP, which is partly funded through NHS Leeds and Leeds City Council, is calling on service users and groups to take part in a consultation about changes to services.

The questionnaire will look at how groups are surveyed and the consultation process involved in making changes to services offered by the council.

The results will then be used by the council to create a set of involvement standards to help people have their say in the city.

Natasha Mattocks from Leeds Involving People said: “A lot of people are worried about the changes that will be made to services.

“This shows people that there are ways they can get involved in having a say in these services. It is vital for people to come forward and have their say and they can get involved and co-design what is happening. It is about making sure that things are fit for purpose.”

LIP currently represents at least 400 members and is hoping to distribute the survey to even more people.

The questionnaire, which has been designed by LIP, addresses involvement standards and gives people the chance to rate consultations.

People will be able to give their views about the language that is used during a consultation, how meetings are arranged and whether agendas are provided in good time.

Ms Mattocks added: “This is something that will be used across the council and how services are shaped. It is about finding out what people want. It’s now more important than ever that an organisation like ours exists.”
