Leeds ex-police constable on theft charge

A former Leeds police constable has appeared in court.

James Hughes, 31, is charged with theft and misconduct in a public office.

The charges relate to his time as a police constable based at the City and Holbeck Division.

Hughes, who lives in Whitkirk, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court on Friday, February 3, for his first appearance.

He spoke only to confirm his name and address during the two-minute hearing and was released on unconditional bail.

The case was sent to Leeds Crown Court where he will appear on Friday, February 10.
