Leeds Sport Relief Mile promises to be flipping fantastic as thousands of runners get ready to pound the pavements to raise charity cash.

A team from Leeds Esprit Gymnastics Club added their own twist to preparations for the event, spinning and backflipping their way around their local sports hall.

Chris Walker, head coach at Leeds Esprit Gymnastics Club, said: “Our gymnasts had a really great time creating their own version of the Sport Relief Mile. They’re currently hard at work training for a major dance competition so it was nice to have this break and get involved in something so quirky and fun. Hopefully thousands more people will get into the spirit by taking part in the Leeds Mile.”

The event takes place on Sunday, March 25 and will coincide with Miles taking place across the country.

And as the Mile fast approaches, community groups can grab their share of £100,000. The YEP has teamed up with Comic Relief and the Community Foundation for Leeds to offer organisations the chance to apply for a fantastic Sport Relief Community Cash Grant.

To apply, visit: www.leeds communityfoundation.org.uk or call 0113 2422426 before Friday, March 9. Sign up for the Sport Relief Mile at: www.sportrelief.com/mile
