A bus driver was temporarily blinded when a youth threw stones through his window in Leeds.

The driver was hit in the face through his open window as the bus, which was carrying a number of passengers, travelled along Hall Lane, near Armley jail, Leeds, on Saturday, just before 12.30pm.

The driver managed to bring the bus to a halt and received hospital treatment for temporary damage to the vision in his right eye. He remains off work due to his injuries.

The youth was described as white, aged 13 to 15, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10ins tall, and slim.

He was wearing a navy blue top and dark-coloured Adidas tracksuit bottoms.

He had been seen kicking a basketball against the perimeter wall of the prison moments before he picked up the gravel and threw it at the passing bus.
