Two men were being quizzed by murder squad detectives last night over the shooting of a Leeds man whose body was found in woods by school children.

The pair, aged 41 and 48, were arrested in the Pudsey area on suspicion of the murder of Colin Pierre, who was found dead in Gledhow Valley Woods, Chapel Allerton.

Mr Pierre, known to friends as ‘Craig’, died from a single gunshot wound in a targeted attack at about 2am on Tuesday.

The 31-year-old’s body was found in a stream near the junction of Gledhow Valley Road and Gledhow Lane by teenagers who were on their way to Roundhay School shortly after 8am. It is believed he bled to death.

Some residents of the leafy suburb are believed to have heard a shot in the early hours of the morning.

Despite the arrests, it is understood police are pursuing other lines of inquiry and remain keen to hear from anyone with information.

A large police cordon was

still in place in the woods yesterday.

Mr Pierre, a former pupil of Mount St Mary’s High School who lived in Gipton, was known to police but had a steady job as a construction worker and was a doting father of a six-year-old girl.

Anyone with any information that could help police should call 101.
