Campaigners have vowed to continue their fight to prevent hundreds of new homes being built in a village near Leeds.
Residents in Menston have pledged to stop new homes being developed on Derry Hill after plans to have the site transformed into a village green were thrown out.
An independent planning inspector ruled that the village green application should be rejected.
But campaigners have launched a fresh battle to halt development at the site by voicing their concerns about flooding in the village.
Steve Ellams, who has helped to spearhead the campaign, said: “I think its is absolutely vital that we continue.
“The community now are far more aware of the issues.”
He said that they held a recent meeting in the village to discuss issues surrounding flooding and draining in the area.
Mr Ellams said that villagers have gathered video footage of sewage floating in Main Street.
He added: “I am extremely disappointed about the village green application but that has happened and it has to be accepted.
“The inquiry has given us a considerable amount of evidence.”
He said that campaigners have started a dialogue with Yorkshire Water to discuss flooding and drainage.
Villagers in Menston hit out at the local authority for giving planning permission earlier this year to developer Barratt Homes to build 170 new homes at Derry Hill.
They are also calling for a judicial review to stop development at the site, which they claim has been used by the community for years.
