LEEDS United stars Luke Murphy and Matt Smith have been helping to put kids on the right tracks when it comes to railway safety.

Luke and Matt joined United managing director David Haigh at Leeds City Station for an event attended by youngsters from Beeston Primary School and Middleton Primary School.

The pupils were given a tour of the station before sitting down to a safety seminar staged by British Transport Police.

Yesterday’s event was arranged as part of a link-up between the football club’s Leeds United Foundation charitable arm and Network Rail.

Network Rail station manager Helen Dawson said: “Partnerships like this one are a brilliant way of getting the safety message across.”

Leeds manager Brian McDermott and new signing Connor Wickham will be manning the phones in the Elland Road ticket office from 2.15pm to 3.15pm tomorrow. They will head to the ground’s superstore to meet and greet fans once they have finished their ticket office shift.
