A team of intrepid explorers have set off for a trek to Nepal, raising a staggering £25,357 for charity.

The team of eight set off from St James’ Hospital in Leeds last week, where some of the group are being treated, for a nine-day trek in aid of the Yorkshire Cancer Centre.

They left the Bexley Wing on April 24 and will trek across the Himalayan Anapurnas, where they will reach 3,200 metres at the highest point.

Team members include 78-year-old John Ackroyd, Chris Barr, Grace Bellerby, Dani Gaynor, Sheila Fisher, Hugh O’Reilly, Steven Parr and Andy Matson.
