A FITNESS fanatic from Leeds who appeared on a dating show today said he was still single and looking for love.

Cheerleader John Harkins, 28, appeared on ITV’s Take Me Out, left.

His team of cheerleaders from Leeds Aviator Allstars, based in Pudsey, where he is a coach and performer, appeared alongside him.

John said: “Appearing on the show was really good fun and really exciting, it was brilliant.

“The girl I chose for the date was Becks from Wigan, and we actually got along better than was shown on the final edit. We are still in touch, but I am still single and looking for love.

“I enjoyed the filming and then we went abroad for our date to the Isle of Fernando, which is a secret location but we were actually only there for one night.

“When filming the show, I found it was hard to really be yourself and when they edit it, the event seems different to how it actually was.”

John, who works in city centre sports shop Ultimate For You, at Vicar Lane, as a nutritional advisor, lives in Burley, and has been recognised a few times since his Saturday night appearance.

He said: “I really love the cheerleading, but it is one of the most dangerous sports to take part in, believe it or not. Instead of twirling batons and shaking pom poms, we actually twirl girls around and it is really quite strenuous and exhausting, but keeps you extremely fit.”
