Colleagues from Asda House and Asda Killingbeck joined forces with members of the local community to clean up Killingbeck Fields as part of the supermarket’s ‘Big Litter Pick’ initiative.
After calling on the community to nominate areas in need of attention and to take part in the week-long initiative, colleagues worked tirelessly for five hours to help improve Killingbeck Fields, which form a key part of the Wyke Beck Valley – an important green corridor in the largely urban east Leeds.
The site has also recently been given the green light to be designated as a Local Nature Reserve, as a result of its importance to both wildlife and people.
Asda’s Head of Community, Dawn Clements, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to the Ahead Partnership and all the colleagues who joined us on the day. We’re delighted we were able to help clean Killingbeck Fields, which is of such importance to the community, and I hope the public will be able to help continue this good work in the future.”
