Hundreds of walkers pulled on their trainers to march 10km in the moonlight.

Around 350 people donned walking gear and even pyjamas for the YEP-backed Leeds Starlight Hike at Temple Newsam.

Organisers hope the event, sponsored by Nuffield Health, will raise £50,000 for the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Hospice in Headingley. Emmerdale actress Kitty McGeever set the walkers, which included an Elvis and a Where’s Wally team, on their way.

Event manager Joe Clark-Bland said: “A lot of people had personal experience of the hospice and it was really nice for them to be able to meet each other.”
