Leeds skyscraper in the pink for charity

LEEDS'S "DALEK" has been given a makeover turning it... pink.

Skyscraper Bridgewater Place, the tallest building in Yorkshire, is lit up in the rosy hue to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

All 32 storeys are now surrounded by a pink aura to tie in with their It's A Girl Thing campaign.

The aim is to turn the building on Water Lane into a beacon of hope.

Paul Wadsworth, Cancer Research UK spokesman for Yorkshire, said: "We are really grateful that Bridgewater Place turned pink for October.

"When we had this idea six months ago we didn't know if it would be possible, but now we have made the Leeds skyline even more fantastic."

Peter Endersby, property manager at Bridgewater Place, added: "I think that using an iconic structure to help raise breast cancer awareness is such a novel idea."

More information about the campaign is at www.cancerresearchuk.org/breastcancer or call 08701 60 20 40.
