LECTURERS staged their second walk-out in a week as academics continued their battle over changes to staff pensions.
Members of UCU were on picket lines again as part of a national day of strike action.
Staff from the University of Leeds, Leeds Metropolitan University, Leeds Trinity and All Saints, Leeds College of Music, Joseph Priestly College, Leeds College of Art, Leeds City College and Leeds College of Building all joined the protest over plans for greater pension contributions and increases in the pension age.
UCU regional official Mark Oley said: “University and college staff made their views crystal clear. Strike action is a last resort but attacks on pensions and pay have created real anger.”
The strike action followed Tuesday’s protest by 47 English universities, including Leeds. A University of Leeds spokesman said: “We are extremely disappointed UCU decided to take industrial action. Further talks are scheduled.”
