Leeds school's Ofsted verdict
Pupils are so happy at an outstanding Leeds primary school, they told inspectors they didn't want to leave.
Ofsted judged Carr Manor Primary, Meanwood, as "outstanding" in all three categories of overall effectiveness, capacity for improvement, and outcomes for pupils.

The education watchdog's inspection team described youngsters' behaviour as "immaculate" and found pupils – including those with special educational needs or disabilities – made outstanding progress, with overall achievement also "outstanding".

The report on the school for three to 11-year-olds, said: "It is an enormously welcoming, stimulating and yet calm environment, so much so that during the course of the inspection, a number of pupils said to the inspectors that they did not wish to leave."

It added: "The inspection team was very impressed by the quality of relationships between adults and pupils, by the great enthusiasm of the pupils and by parents' and carers' high regard for the school."
The school, lead by head teacher Linda Bowles, was rated outstanding by Ofsted at its last full inspection four years ago and has maintained its high standards since then to be awarded another glowing review.
It is one of the most multi-cultural schools in the city, with pupils from a wide range of ethnic backgrounds and around a third of the 492 students on its roll speaking English as an additional language.
Inspectors said overall, when joining the school, children's skills levels were slightly below average but as a result of the excellent provision, they made rapid progress.
"From the beginning of key-stage one onwards, consistently good and often outstanding teaching, combined with high-quality curricular provision, ensures that pupils' overall achievement is outstanding by the end of key-stage two," the report said.
Ofsted said attainment by the time pupils prepare to move on to secondary school had been consistently above average since the last inspection and current final-year students were on track to maintain this trend.
The team said the quality of teaching, plus leadership and management, was outstanding and there was also excellent assessment practice.
The only recommendation was to ensure teachers give pupils clear information about how well pupils are doing and what they need to do to improve further.
