A walk in Roundhay Park has proved to be the unlikely inspiration for a Leeds author’s latest children’s book.
Emma Barnes dreamt up the story of Wolfie when she took a walk in the park in Leeds.
The book tells the story of a girl called Lucie, whose new pet dog turns out to be a wolf.
The story delves into the mystical and magical journeys the best friends encounter.
Emma will be launching her book at a free family event at Waterstones in Leeds, on Friday at 6.30pm.
Emma, who hails from north Leeds, spends her time juggling her family life with penning children’s books.
She said: “One of the inspirations for the book was Roundhay Park, and Leeds residents may be able to work out exactly where it is that Wolfie hunts for rabbits.”
The book is aimed at children aged between seven and 10 and is illustrated by award-winning Emma Chichester Clark.
Wolfie had a sell-out audience at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and inspired a Top Ten Wolves Books piece in The Guardian.
