Leeds rapist’s stabbing threat to victim aged 11
A dangerous sex offender raped an 11-year-old girl and threatened to stab her parents if she told them what he had done.
Gary Worsnop, who is already serving a prison sentence for a sex attack on a six-year-old girl, was found guilty of rape, sexual assault and indecent assault after a trial at Leeds Crown Court.
His indeterminate prison sentence for the public’s protection was ordered to continue. The offences took place between 2003 and 2005. The court heard he poses a significant risk of committing further offences if released.
Worsnop, formerly of Osmondthorpe Lane, Leeds, must serve a minimum of four years and 11 months before he can apply to the parole board for his release to be considered.
The rape of the youngster happened in 2005 when she awoke to find Worsnop attacking her. The girl took his threats to harm her parents seriously, which resulted in a long period of time before a complaint was made.
He then indecently assaulted a six-year-old girl which resulted in him being jailed indefinitely. Worsnop’s barrister Kama Melly said he was of low intelligence and continued to deny the offences
Jailing him, recorder Euan Duff said: “You are a dangerous young man in relation to sexual offending. This has been confirmed in the reports I have read which demonstrate you do not understand proper sexual boundaries and you have violent and aggressive instincts which interact with your lack of understanding about sexual boundaries.
“You are described in the report as falling into a very high risk category and that accords in my opinion with the dangers you pose for the future.”
