Dan Morfitt and supporters cycled 40 miles around Leeds to raise money for a specialist trike for house fire victim Aiden Lowe from Morley.

A Leeds radio DJ swapped his microphone for a bicycle as he took on a lap of Leeds to raise funds for a boy injured in a house fire.

Dan Morfitt, the drivetime presenter on 96.3 Radio Aire, cycled 46 miles around the city yesterday in a bid to buy a specialist tricycle for 12-year-old Aiden Lowe, from Morley.

Aiden was four when he was rescued from a house fire which killed two of his brothers, including his twin brother Kieran.

He was left brain damaged by the blaze, which has affected his ability to walk.

However, he will now receive a specialist tricycle to boost his ongoing recovery as Dan smashed his £1,000 target for 96.3 Radio Aire’s charity, Cash for Kids.

He said: “I kept going, thanks to a great team supporting me. I knew that I had to carry on if we were to get Aiden his specially adapted tricycle, and the look on his face when we arrived back was so worth it.”
