Leeds: Plea by detectives after two prostitutes raped
Detectives are investigating the rape of two prostitutes in Leeds.
Three areas in the red light district near Water Lane, Holbeck, were sealed off by police after two separate attacks in the early hours of Tuesday.
A 23-year-old man was arrested by police and has been released without charge.
Both victims are believed to be women in their early 20s and one suffered minor injuries including bruising.
Both women underwent medical examinations after making the reports, and it is believed they know each other.
Police are investigating whether the two attacks are linked.
The three areas which were cordoned off by police at Canal Wharf, Triumph Close and Springwell Court are all within half a mile of each other in Holbeck.
The investigation is being overseen by Det Supt Paul Taylor of the West Yorkshire Police Homicide and Major Enquiry Team.
He appealed for anyone with information to contact police immediately and warned of the dangers posed to women "working the streets".
Anyone with information should contact police on 0845 6060606.
