Leeds: New image reveals online trends

Leeds: A Digital City Portrait PIC: Paul David Drabble

It’s a city known for its industrial heritage.

But an unusual new portrait of Leeds shows that web-savvy residents are at the forefront of the social media revolution.

From Leeds United to Skyfall, the hot topics that get Leeds talking online have been captured for the first time ever in a unique digital portrait of the city created by world-renowned digital artist, Brendan Dawes.

The innovative image, commissioned by EE to mark the arrival of 4G in the city, captured social media conversations and topics trending across the city over three days – before, during and after the period when 4G was introduced to Leeds.

The Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Ann Castle, was presented with the artwork “Leeds: A Digital City Portrait” by Mr Dawes (left) and John McEvoy from EE on behalf of the city of Leeds.

It is now on show in Leeds City Museum.
