Campaigners who are trying to prevent development on green spaces in north west Leeds have met with a Government minister.

Local pressure groups such as Wharfedale and Airedale Review Development (Ward) and the Aireborough Neighbourhood Forum spoke to planning minister Nick Boles.

They were joined by local MP Stuart Andrew who took the minister to see some of the green belt sites that could be lost to future development.

Campaigners spoke to them about how development in Guiseley, Rawdon and Yeadon has impacted their local infrastructure.

He also met members of High Royds Sports Campaign Club.

Nick Boles said: “I was delighted to accept Stuart Andrew’s invitation to visit his constituency and view the character and countryside in the area.

“It has been good to see first-hand the development of new housing that has taken place in recent years.

“However, it is very important that future plans take into account existing pressure on the local infrastructure.”
