Free tours of Leeds’s historic Kirkgate Market will run as part of Heritage Open Days this month. (Sept)
The tours, starting from the market information centre, will include access to the 1904 Market Hall balconies, which are not normally open to the public, on September 12 and 13 from 11.45am and 1.30pm each day.
Visitors should note that the balconies are only accessible using a spiral staircase, though the rest of the tours are suitable for wheelchair users.
At the heart of the Leeds retail scene since 1857, Leeds Kirkgate Market is one of the largest indoor markets in Europe.
The famous city centre venue is home to over 200 varied stalls six days a week.
