Leeds inventor wins 'Woman of Year' award
Inventor Emily Cummins,from Leeds, has won the Woman Of The Year award at the 54th annual Women Of The Year Lunch in London.
Her first invention, at the age of 15, was a toothpaste dispenser for arthritic people and the 22-year-old, is now working on a "sustainable" fridge.
Dame Vera Lynn was presented with a lifetime achievement award by another forces' sweetheart – Katherine Jenkins.
The 92-year-old star, who trumped the Beatles last month to become the oldest living artist in the world to have a number one album.
Other award recipients included Jane Walker, from Southampton, who was given the Women Of The Year Window To The World gong.
Ms Walker founded the Philippine Community
Fund, recycling 72 shipping containers to help build a school large enough to educate 1,000 children.
