The average house price in Leeds has increased by almost half in the last decade, according to new figures.
Gathered from the Halifax’s housing statistics database, the figures also reveal that Beeston and Holbeck have seen the highest price rise, more than doubling from around £41,000 in 2002 to more than £85,000 in 2012.
The figures do however show that the average property price in Leeds did drop by around 20 per cent in the last five years.
Regionally property prices have increased by 62 per cent since 2002, meaning both the local and regional average house prices have outperformed the UK increase of 38 per cent in the last decade.
Andrew Eastwood, Halifax regional director for Yorkshire, said: “The excellent commuter links will ensure Leeds city centre remains significant to the region’s property market, whilst homes in the wider Leeds area and Yorkshire region will continue to appeal to buyers looking for greater affordability and a different balance between location and size.”
