Leeds house death crash driver is named LATEST

The incident scene.

The incident scene.

A driver who died after crashed into a house in Leeds has been named.

Craig Dixon, 39, lost control of his vehicle, a blue Citroen C1, on Valley Ridge in Kippax, on Friday morning (Oct 12) before ploughing through a garden wall and crashing into the front door of the property.

He was removed from his car by paramedics following the 9.30am incident before being flown by the Yorkshire Air Ambulance to Leeds General Infirmary to be treated for serious injuries.

But he died later in the morning.

It is thought he may have fallen ill at the wheel before the accident.

A woman in her 30s and her teenage daughter were left trapped in the house because of damage to the front door.

Firefighters from Garforth were called to free them and helped them out of a first floor window using a ladder. West Yorkshire Police are investigating the incident.

Inquiries are ongoing and any witnesses are asked to contact the major collision inquiry team via 101.

An inquest into Mr Dixon’s death will open in due course.
