A HIT-AND-RUN driver fled after mounting a path and hitting a pedestrian in Leeds, leaving him with serious injuries.

The 20-year-old was walking alongside Osmondthorpe Lane in east Leeds at about 2.50am today (Sept 21) when a small red car, thought to be a Nissan Micra, careered into him.

The car drove off towards the A64. The victim was taken to Leeds General Infirmary with a serious head injury, which is not thought to be life threatening.

Osmondthorpe Lane was closed for about two hours while the scene was examined by forensic experts.

Witnesses or anyone with information should call the Eastern Area Roads Policing Unit via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
