THE injured driver of a stolen car was taken from the scene of a dramatic crash in Leeds in another getaway vehicle last night.

He was in a blue BMW 630i that was travelling towards Morley when it crashed into a wooden post before hitting a stone wall and flipping onto its roof on Scotchman Lane near the Needless Inn pub.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “The driver of the BMW was seen to leave the scene shortly after the collision in a silver Mercedes estate-type vehicle containing two men.

“The BMW had been stolen from a burglary earlier yesterday evening.”

An area of Scotchman Lane was closed overnight while forensic officers examined the scene.

The driver of the BMW was white, aged 35 to 40 and slim with a bald head and wearing a t-shirt and trainers.

The two men in the Mercedes were white males and aged 25 to 30. One was of medium build, the other was skinny.

Witnesses or anyone with information should contact Holbeck CID via 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously and in confidence, on: 0800 555 111.
