Best friends Gracie and Briony have been inseparable since they were toddlers.
And now the 12-year-olds are even helping each other cope with their diabetes.
Gracie Spandler, of Rawdon, and Briony Farr, of Esholt, were diagnosed with type one diabetes within a year of each other.
Since the diagnosis, they been dedicated fundraisers for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and held a ‘Dinner Dance’ last month.
The event at the Hollins Hall Hotel in Baildon included a prize draw and a live performance by local band ‘Of Colours’, raising £930 for the cause.
The pals have also been selected as youth ambassadors for the international charity.
Gracie said: “We want to raise lots of money to find a cure.
“If we can do that, then at least something good can come from us having this condition.”
Briony said: “We have to have nearly 1,500 insulin injections every year.
“We are lucky that we can support each other when we are feeling fed up with our condition - it has brought us even closer together.”
Gracie’s mum Briony said: “The girls have really pulled together since their diagnosis.
“They have managed to control their type one instead of it controlling them.
“This was a chance to celebrate what they have achieved in dealing with their condition.
“Our daughters have to live with relentless intrusion, worry and risk.
“They rely on multiple insulin injections every day just to stay alive.”
Briony’s mum Karen said: “The girls have not only helped each other but also speak about their experiences to help other children who have been diagnosed.”
She added: “They are inspirational and we are so very proud of them.”
